Hopping on the Back Wheel This is more for Marsel, but i know a few other riders are in some way at this point. Hopefully Marsel this clears my explanation up. Major points - Your aim on the rear wheel is not to hop for the sake of hopping - Hopping is only for 3 things > Balance correction > Turning on tight spot > Temporary (or better yet momentary) extra traction - Judge your lift on combined COG not the rear tyre When I started riding the rear wheel, I had exactly the same perspective as you. Some of this will make more and more sense as you progress. Your perspective will start to change over time as you see it in higher and higher resolution.
