FEEDBACK for @Svobodna01 Question 4 Your riding is just getting better and better Innes! I love how detailed your thinking and views are getting!! The question Innes asked; "4)I was striving to bring my go as close as possible to an obstacle. On almost vertical obstacles with a bit of a lump in the middle or lip on top I found the ride and traction to be smoother if my front wheel merely grazed the top of the rock. When I got closer I hit it lower, the bike got more vertical but at the top it slipped if I didn’t deweigh it. Occasionally I even hit the bash plate when going up. (unfortunately I don’t have the video of it). But if I gave it more revs and a sooner go- almost like trying to splat the bash plate always cleared it, I felt like I had so more grip and the rear tire climbed to the top. TBH, the front did drop immediately, but on the ride up it wasn’t much higher. The worse the grip, the more pronounced the difference. It’s still a bit overwhelming so I’m not holding the leverage as I should, but in a way it feels more comforting being a bit further with handfull of throttle than closer with less of it. What am I doing wrong?" To summarise this; Having the GO moment further back feels better and gets more traction GO moment closer feels worse and get less traction MAIN POINTS - Fundamentally the main issue is a lack of leverage - Lack of leverage is mostly due to a lack of functional movement. Arms, upper back, and legs working seperately. - Lack of Leverage is compounded by being more comfortable with a GO from further back (totally normal). It is very uncomfortable when you bring your go moment much closer! - To correct this combine functional movement exercises with adding into your technique training a exercise of Ride Technique. Select a Low and quite vertical step (not a ramp). Start with the front on top of a LOW the obstacle, and ride technique up the face. You want to end up on to of the step with straight legs. This is a short faster movement and there is not time to work legs/Arms/back seperately. If you are uncertain of anything let me know!
