#askneil Hi Neil, I’m seeking advice after crashing at the base of a steep downhill and am wondering what I should have done differently. There was a single rut in the dirt at the bottom which directed the front tyre onto the rock base on a slight angle. Everywhere else had a one foot drop onto the base. It didn’t help that the rock base was slightly wet and mossy in spots. In hindsight I think I should have had my weight further back as I got towards the bottom, but was conscious of applying pressure to the front tyre to help maintain traction. I also think I came down too fast causing the forks to compress a lot when coming into contact at the base; but I was trying to avoid locking up the wheels under brakes and loosing control. Having said that I think the front wheel is already locked up in the slow motion video.
