I have been wondering about suspension settings, and the thing that boggles my mind, is spring preload. The Internet is rife with opinions, but mostly for Adventure or Enduro bikes. So for Trials bikes, given the perfect spring rate for your weight, should there be any preload on your suspension springs at all? With Adventure and Enduro bikes I understand the need for static sag and race sag - your weight is on the bike (most of the time), you're at speed, and your suspension must save you from holes and bumps alike. With Trials bikes, you have basically no speed and you are often de-weighting the bike so that there is little of your own weight on the bike. And there are more bumps to be saved from than holes. So, should there be any preload on your suspension springs at all?
